The Coastal Region Of Kenya

Other than Nairobi and Great Rift Valley attractions, Kenya’s coastal region is also a must visit for visitors in the country. You will not only be rewarded with sun kissed white sand beaches, but you will also get a special treat viewing centuries-old buildings, Arab-inspired villages and exciting ports of call.

Mombasa, home to the busiest and biggest port on the east coast of Africa, makes a good day trip. Don’t just pass by the area in favor of more beautiful and touristy locations.  There are a few attractions you need to check out first. Top of the list is Fort Jesus which dates back to the 16th century and reflects the turbulent history of this part of Africa.

Fort Jesus stands sentry at the strategic entrance of the harbor to protect the city from hostile invaders. Take a lazy stroll from the port towards the Treasury Square. It is not just another boring government building because it houses some of the best exhibits of wild life skeletal frames. Its Ivory Room is not called such because of its color, but rather because of the elephant ivories or tusks beautifully displayed. Game of all kinds are also well represented in the form of teeth, horns and skulls that were collected from the carcasses left in the wilds or confiscated from poachers apprehended in the area.

Just a short one hour drive from Mombasa will bring you to the vast landscape of Tsavo National Park. It’s the perfect place to get a glimpse of many exotic animals such as antelope, giraffe and rhinos.

There are also a good number of monkeys and buffalo in the area as well as the largest herds of elephant in all Kenya.

Don’t be surprised by the elephant’s reddish appearance, they take on the hue because of the crimson colored soil of the region. The park features several pools, but check with the guide as to which ones have an observation area, which will be the the best place to get a closer look of the hippos and crocodiles in their real life habitat.

For more exciting beach scenes, head to Malindi, just north of Mombasa. It is a tourist favorite owing to the stunning white sand beaches and great spots for deep sea fishing. It is also home to two of Kenya’s stunning national marine parks: Watamu’s and Malindi’s.

For diversity, check out Lamu and its idyllic way of life. This small island, one of several in Lamu archipelago, features exquisite Arab houses, charming mosques and narrow meandering streets that are a delight to walk around. Take note of the houses’ doors and their intricate carvings quintessential of Arab architecture. You can’t afford to miss the mandatory dhow trip to other picturesque islands and their beautiful beaches. It’s definitely a trip worth taking.

These parks feature a fantastic crystal clear blue lagoon and stunning beaches in an area just perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Enroute to these parks, another site worth checking is the ancient town of Gedi that dates back to the 15th century.

How And Where to Find Girls in Kenya

Somebody once said if it wasn’t for women we would still be in stone age. Most of the things we do are just to try and impress women. We work hard so that we become a man of some means and get the women of our dreams. I even heard a theory where a guy seems to think that women are less corrupt because they don’t have to use the financial muscle to ensnare a man. All she has to do is smile and everything might just go her way.

So you have done that, worked hard, became successful and want a girl of your dreams from Kenya. Where and how do you go about meeting her?

For one she does not live in the comfort of your living room so you have to go out there and meet her. If you spend all your time bumming around the house don’t blame anyone if you seem like you can’t find any girls to date.

By attending lots of musical events you can meet lots of girls. Especially if girls go in free before 10 pm. You can have lots of fun here. Don’t try anything serious here however. It seems girls like to think that men at these events are only after fun like one night stands. She might therefore not take you seriously.

Church can be a great place to meet beautiful Kenyan girls for love. If you are looking for marriage material then you might get quality women here.

There will always be sheep in wolves clothing so don’t be surprised if you meet some loose girl in the wrong place. Always try to find out the kind of person you are with regardless of where you meet them.

I have to give it up to the people who championed girl education. They are the reason why Kenyan colleges are packed with beautiful ladies who are waiting for you to say hi! If you are not in college you don’t have to worry. Just hook up with a buddy who is still in school and hang around together. You will be surprised with the kind of ladies you meet.

Weddings and social events can also be great places to pick up. Especially weddings, girls are always easy to pick up around here. I think it has something to do with seeing the greatest manifestation of love, vowing to stick together no matter what.

Never forget that there are endless opportunities online. You can try Facebook. You can pick up great women here. Online dating sites are also another great place to find your special someone.

Kenya is blessed with the most beautiful women and if you are not dating any of them you simply don’t know what you are missing.

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) Announces 2009 Winners; Celebrity Judges Award Grand Prize To UK Songwriter King Charles For His Song "Love Lust"

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) April 29, 2010

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is pleased to announce its 2009 winners. It is with great pleasure that ISC bestows its highest honor, the ISC Grand Prize, to King Charles of London, England for his song “Love Lust,” a brilliantly unique song that stretches the boundaries of contemporary rock with a sonic roller coaster ride of head-rushing, multi-layered instrumentation and vocals. This is the first time the US-based ISC has ever awarded its Grand Prize to a UK songwriter. The Grand Prize winner takes home $ 25,000 in cash (US) and over $ 20,000 in prizes, the largest Grand Prize of any songwriting competition.

Established in 2002, ISC honors amateur and professional songwriters around the world and awards more than $ 150,000 in cash and prizes in all. With judges ranging from Tom Waits, Steve Winwood, Jeff Beck, Robbie Williams, McCoy Tyner, Loretta Lynn, Jerry Lee Lewis, Robert Smith (The Cure) and many more (as well as seven record label Presidents), winning the ISC Grand Prize is an accomplishment that recognizes excellence in the craft of songwriting.

In its eighth year, ISC received almost 15,000 songs from amateur and professional songwriters from almost 100 countries worldwide, confirming ISC’s status as the leading global songwriting event. The New York Times called ISC, “the songwriting competition to take note of.”

For a complete list of 2009 ISC winners and to hear the winning songs, go to http://www.songwritingcompetition.com/winners.htm

The song “Love Lust” was a unanimous selection by the ISC judges. The song, entered into the Rock category, was praised by the ISC judges for its originality, ambitious and innovative arrangement, hooky melody, and poetic lyrics.

Candace Avery, the founder and director of ISC, states, “The song ‘Love Lust’ is one of the most inventive songs I’ve ever heard. It is rare that an artist comes along who is so creative, interesting, and most importantly, authentic. There is such a depth to his artistry that it seems as if the creativity just pours out of him. I am confident he has a hugely successful career ahead of him.”

King Charles only began making music seriously in 2005. Earlier as a boy, he learned the cello, sang in the school choir, and took up guitar, listening to Dylan who he says “made the world bigger for me.” After a year at University, he returned to London, without a degree, but with a new moniker, King Charles. He formed a band, Adventure Playground, and soon they were touring with artists such as Laura Marling, Noah and the Whale, and Mumford and Sons. The song, “Love Lust” is his latest single and demonstrates his keenly original artistry.

In addition to the Grand Prize winner, many other deserving songwriters also share in the prestige and kudos of winning their respective categories in ISC 2009. These winners hail from all over the world (57% of this year’s winners come from outside the USA), representing diverse cultures and ranging from talented amateurs to seasoned songwriting veterans. The 21 categories include all genres of contemporary music, from Rock to Pop to Jazz to R&B/Hip-Hop and more. See below for a complete list of ISC 2009 winners.

Attractions Near Nairobi

Nairobi is the most visited and an easy favorite from among the Kenyan cities. This cosmopolitan city, the third largest in the entirety of Africa, sees the most concentration of tourists all year round. It has one of the thriving economies in Africa and features plenty of entertainment opportunities for its visitors. Whether you are a frenzied shopper, an art deco fan or a safari enthusiast, you will not find the city wanting. There are also plenty of attractions in the surrounding areas of Nairobi that are only a few hours drive away.

Kenya is the perfect choice if you want to experience the best of what Africa has to offer. The continent’s famed landscape of wild beauty, rich diversity and fantastic animal sighting opportunities are within easy reach wherever you are in the country.

The city is surrounded by some of the finest nature reserves and national parks in Africa. The most famous of which is the Masai Mara National Reserve, just six hour drive away. Its rolling savannah grasslands and incredibly diverse wildlife translate to the best African experience imaginable.

If you have seen the movie ‘Out of Africa’, all that natural splendor shown on screen and so much more awaits at Masai Mara. Any time is a great time to visit the area but for a more mind-blowing experience, schedule your visit around the latter part of June, during the Great Animal Migration. The arrival of almost two million animals galloping at full speed is a spectacle you cannot soon forget. Watch from a hot air balloon high in the sky for an incredible panoramic view of such an extraordinary sight.

The indigenous tribe of Masai are the overseer of the national reserve.

Get a glimpse of their colorful and proud heritage at the Masai Village where visitors are treated to visually inspiring performances of traditional music and dances.

Watch for herds of gigantic elephants – Amboseli’s superstars. Hippos and various species of birds are permanent residents in the marshes of Africa and this park is no exception. There is also a large number of grazers in the area and you can easily spot giraffe, gazelles and zebras lounging around. See how close you can get before they amble away.

The vast plains of Amboseli National Park against the backdrop of the mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro is another remarkable sight to behold after about four hours driving from Nairobi. You want to visit Observation Hill to get a picture perfect view of the park’s picturesque vistas.

The nearest national park to Nairobi, just a short two hours drive from the city center, is Mt. Kenya National Park which is the home of Mt. Kenya, Africa’s second highest peak. This is a favorite hiking destination for visiting enthusiastic trekkers and hikers. It offers one of the most picturesque climbs in Africa with its verdant forests, beautiful lakes and floating icebergs. It is also home to some of the most diverse concentrations of plant and animal population which makes it a perfect spot for wildlife sightings, nature tripping and outstanding photo opportunities.
