National Parks in Kenya

A Kenya safari offers ultimate place and activity for a holiday of great adventure. However, it’s not easy to find a place to visit in Kenya. In this article, we will list some of the greatest National Parks in the country with their specific and original sites and activities.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Probably the mostly densely big game populated reserve in Kenya, the Masai Mara is a haven for those wanting to spot the African ‘big five’ that is made up of lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo and leopard. However, there are also many other varieties of animals that inhabit this park that are more than worth of a mention, such as hippo, Masai and Rothschild’s giraffe, topi, warthog and white rhino.

Amboseli National Park

The scenic views from this merely small park are unbelievable, as it is without a doubt the greatest Kenya safari location to see Mount Kilimanjaro in all its glory. This because the mountain seems to directly shadow the park and provides a heart stopping backdrop for witnessing game. Moving on to the wildlife which can be seen here, cheetah, African hunting dog, crocodile, reticulated giraffe and warthog can all be spotted. I have to conclude this section with one more animal though; elephants! There are over 1,500 free roaming of these giant tusked creatures that travel the park in huge herds – sightings of elephants in this park are unmissable in both senses of the word!

Hell’s Gate National Park

The beauty of this park is that it has a distinct lack of large predators on the prowl. This means that there are a greater number of ‘close up’ safaris that you can take, including cycling, horseback, camelback and walking safaris as well as guided nature walks. This park is home to some amazing animals, including the plains zebra, jackal, impala, wildebeest and Beisa oryx. There are also many different varieties of bird that flourish within the parks boundaries, such as the hoopoe, Steppe buzzard and Lammergeyer.

If the sound of a Kenya safari has got you excited then you can create your own safari itinerary. This way you can decide exactly which destinations you want to visit, choosing from wildlife reserves such as the Masai Mara, Amboseli and Hells Gate.
